Role: PhD Student

Nationality: British

Research Project Title: Elucidating the Functions of Pbx1 during Pancreatic Cell Differentiation

Core Expertise: Imaging, iPSCs, molecular biology

I completed my Master’s degree in regenerative medicine at UCL and afterwards worked as a research assistant at the Sanger Institute. While there, I worked to establish a pipeline for genetic knockout studies on induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived hepatocytes.

I joined Dr Spagnoli’s lab as part of the WT PhD programme in Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine at KCL. I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying development with a view to harnessing these for the generation of cell therapies. My PhD project is aimed at understanding the developmental mechanisms of the pancreas, which I’ll examine using in vivo and in vitro (iPSC) models and bioinformatics tools.
